UPDATE 9/4/12
BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man from Proctorville, Ohio, faces several charges after deputies say he and his mother were burned in a car fire following an argument Friday night.

The incident happened outside his parent’s home in the 200-block of Bartow Drive in Cabell County.

Cabell County Sheriff Deputies arrested and charged Joe Chapman Jr. with malicious assault, arson and two counts of misdemeanor domestic assault.

Deputies say the mother and son were arguing when the son tried to light a Ford Taurus on fire. The mother tried twice to get a gas can away from the son, and both were burned when the car burst into flames.

The woman was treated at the scene, while her son was taken to a hospital.

The criminal complaint says Chapman Jr. appeared to be intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the incident.
