UPDATE: Teen Arrested in Jackson Avenue Murder

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Police say they have arrested the person who shot and killed a 19-year-old Huntington man Monday night.

Garrett Ray Hatten was shot outside his home at 1005 Jackson Avenue just after 11 p.m. Monday.

Police tell WSAZ.com that Dylan Stone,19 was taken into custody near 21st Street and 7th Avenue Tuesday afternoon Police have charged Stone with murder.

Hatten was shot once in the chest and died at the scene.

Police say hey were originally called the house concerning a possible domestic disturbance. The call was upgraded to a shooting as officers were heading to the scene.

Police say it appears several people went to the home, where an altercation took place. They say Stone then shot Hatten during some type of fight on the side lawn of the house.

Stone and the others then fled the scene in two different vehicles.

Members of the CUFFED Task Force arrested Stone without incident.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A 19-year-old was shot to death outside his home on Jackson Avenue in Huntington Monday night.

Police say the victim is Garrett Ray Hatten. The shooting happened at 1005 Jackson Avenue just after 11 p.m. Monday.

Hatten was shot once in the chest and died at the scene.

According to a press release, police were originally called the house concerning a possible domestic disturbance. The call was upgraded to a shooting as officers were heading to the scene.

Police say it appears several people went to the home, where an altercation took place. One of the people then shot Hatten during some type of fight on the side lawn of the house.

The people then fled the scene in two different vehicles.

Police say the shooter is 5’7”, medium build. He was wearing jeans and a light t-shirt. He fled the scene in a maroon colored SUV, driven by another male

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call 304-696-4444.

About an hour earlier Monday night, another man was shot to death outside a house in the 1300 block of 8th Avenue. Police have not released the name of the victim. Also no word on a suspect.

The shootings are not related.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police are on the scene of a second shooting in Huntington.

Cabell County 911 received a call at 11:09 p.m. Monday of a shooting at 1005 Jackson Avenue.

A medical examiner has been called to the scene.

Officers say there is a possible suspect. No other details are being released.

Another shooting happened in Huntington earlier in the evening.

A man was shot to death in the 1300 block of 8th Avenue. This shooting occurred just before 10 p.m. Monday.
