Probable Cause Found in Overdose Death; Case Sent to Grand Jury

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Both women charged in connection with the overdose death of Racheal Chaney had preliminary hearings at the Cabell County Courthouse on Friday.

A magistrate found probable cause in Misty Chapman's case, which will now be bound over to the grand jury.

Angela Jarvis, who is also charged with first-degree murder in Chaney's death, waived her right to a hearing.

Both cases will be presented to a grand jury.

Police say 28-year-old Chaney overdosed February 7 at her home in the 300 block of 5th Avenue West.

The autopsy found a combination of three different kinds of drugs contributed.

Police say Jarvis sold two of those narcotics to Chaney and Chapman.

Chapman is accused of injecting drugs into Chaney's arm.

Both are charged with murder during the commission of a felony with the underlying charge being delivery of a controlled substance.

Chapman and Jarvis are still being held without bond.
