Police Arrest Man after Chase Through Housing Complex

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- After running from police and leading them on a chase through a housing complex, a man was caught with drugs on him and arrested.

Shawntique Whitfield, 28, from Huntington was arrested Saturday night.

It started with a traffic stop when police noticed Whitfield was speeding in the 1100 block of 16th Street.

According to the criminal complaint, when the vehicle stopped, Whitfield exited the driver's door and took off running through Northcott Court Housing Complex.

Police were able to catch Whitfield, and found a baggy of meth on him.

Officers also noticed a smell of alcohol on Whitfield and administered field sobriety tests. His BAC result was .096, which is over the legal limit.

Whitfield has two other DUI charges that are still pending in Cabell County.

He now faces charges of DUI 3rd offense, possession of a controlled substance and fleeing.
