NITRO, W. Va. (WSAZ) -- Reports of a child abduction had law enforcement throughout Kanawha County on watch Saturday night. Now police say the reports are unfounded.

Scanner traffic reported the possible abduction of an 8-year-old girl on Main Street in Nitro just before 10p.m. Saturday.
Police were told to be on the lookout for a white vehicle.

Nitro police say they are unable to confirm any abduction reports.
Officer H. R. Blake says his department never found any evidence that an abduction ever occurred and that no one has even reported a child missing in the area.
