UPDATE: Huntington Standoff Suspect's Name Released


Huntington Police have arrested Jared Triplett, 23, after he barricaded himself in a house along Adams Avenue for more than an hour.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Huntington Police have arrested Jared Triplett, 23, after he barricaded himself in a house along Adams Avenue for more than an hour.

A swat team was called in to block Adams Avenue from 19th street west to 21st street west.

All neighbors were told to stay inside of their homes.

Police say Triplett shot a rifle into the ground during a fight with his girlfriend. No one was hurt.

Triplett has been charged with wanton endangerment.



UPDATE 11/15/13 @ 11:15 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man was taken into custody Friday night after a standoff situation at a home near the intersection of Adams Avenue and 19th Street West, according to a WSAZ.com crew at the scene.

A SWAT team entered the house just before 9 p.m. The situation began around 7:45 p.m. after reports of a shot fired in a domestic situation at a home along Adams Avenue.

No one was hurt.

Huntington Police Chief Skip Holbrook said a man fired a rifle into the ground during and ran into a nearby home after an argument involving a girlfriend.

A two-block perimeter was blocked around the area, which included traffic blocked off on Adams Avenue and West 19th Street.

Those roadways have since reopened.

Some residents were ordered to shelter in place, and customers and employees of a nearby restaurant along Adams Avenue were moved to a church just west of there.

There was no word on what possible charges the man faces, but he was expected to be arraigned late Friday night.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Adams Avenue and 19th Street West in West Huntington are blocked off Friday night as Huntington Police try to get a person who fired a shot to come out of a nearby home, Cabell County 911 dispatchers say.

No one is reported hurt, but police have set up a perimeter around the home.

A two-block area has been blocked off, and a SWAT team is at the scene.

At least one shot was fired earlier in an apparent domestic situation.

The incident was reported about 7:45 p.m. Friday.
