WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSAZ) -- Federal funding has been announced for the Huntington Police Department and Cabell County Sheriff's Office.

The money is to help strengthen crime control and prevention.

Officers will be working extra hours to build relationships with people in the community. It will be used to clean up crime in neighborhoods.

Together, the City of Huntington and Cabell County Sheriff's Department will receive a nearly $50 thousand grant.

While the grant has been approved, it will take a while for the actual money to come in because of the government shutdown.
