CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Folks participated in a presentation at Cabell Huntington Hospital, highlighting senior medication use.

The presentation consisted of a drug takeback section, a question and answer forum, and a medication review.

Donna May, Huntington native, stopped by to drop off some prescription drugs that belonged to her mother.

"My mother passed away in October and I just wanted it taken care of and disposed of properly," May said." It's really important to dispose of old medications the right way."

Betty Edwards, Huntington native, also participated in the presentation. She says the information provided to her in a medication review has helped her better understand her prescription medications.

"It was an excellent presentation," Edwards said. "They gave us tips on how to dispose and protect our medications in ways I was not aware of."

Medication disposal, safeguarding medication, and alternative medicine are a few topics discussed in the question and answer forum. More than 40 pounds of prescription pills were collected during the takeback.
