WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A teenager from Wayne wanted in a sexual assault case was arrested in Huntington Monday morning.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office says Dakota Chaffin, 19, of Wayne, is wanted on sexual assault, sexual abuse, two counts of nighttime burglary and grand larceny.
Deputies tell WSAZ.com that the investigation into Chaffin started when he was accused of sexually assaulting two juvenile relatives
Investigators say that Thursday, West Virginia State Police tried to stop Chaffin on an unrelated case, and Chaffin ran.
On Friday, the Wayne Police Chief tried to stop Chaffin on another unrelated case. At that time deputies say Chaffin jumped from a moving vehicle and ran into the woods, only wearing basketball shorts and socks.
Chaffin is believed to have broken into a vacant apartment in Wayne and staying there. When investigators searched the apartment, they found several items that had been recently stolen from a home in Wayne.
Investigators say they were able to recover two laptops and an Xbox that were stolen from the home, but have not recovered a pistol and ammunition that were stolen.
Investigators say that on Saturday, Chaffin was seen in Lavalette and that he talked a woman into into letting him use her phone, and then take him to Rotary Park in Huntington.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office tells WSAZ.com that Chaffin's 17-year-old girlfriend and a friend met Chaffin at the park to give him clothes and food.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Chaffin at a residence along Norway Avenue.
