HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- It's the time of year that can be spent relaxing with friends and family at home, but when you don't have a place to call home, it can put a damper on anyone's holiday.
Amy Pruitt and her five month old baby Christopher, have been homeless for almost two months. They have been staying at the city mission for a source of shelter and food. Amy says it's tough being homeless for the holidays.
"If it wouldn't have been for the mission, I would have probably been out on the streets," Pruitt said. "Everyone here has helped me out tremendously. It means a lot."
Pruitt is one of many people homeless for the holidays. Huntington City Mission employee Kimber Leonard says it's common to see an increase in homeless people coming to the mission.
"You see a lot of newcomers because things just happen," Leonard said. "I'm glad that this place is here to help people like that."
The Huntington City Mission is located at 624 10th Street in Huntington.
