Spring Valley High School Grad Sings New Tune in Army

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A 2008 Spring Valley High School graduate says she now gets to do the two things she loves, serve her country and sing.

U.S. Army Specialist Kelly Gregg, 23, was selected for a prestigious honor Monday.

Gregg is now one of 16 members of the “U.S. Army Soldier Show,” a musical group that travels internationally to bring fun and a morale boost to soldiers and civilians.

Spc. Gregg explained over the phone from Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio, Texas, that 412 soldiers wanted, 25 auditioned and 16 were selected, to be a part of the final group. The 10-month tour begins in May.

Gregg will leave behind her current duties of being a patient administration specialist at the Fort Bliss Army Medical Center. Her job is to coordinate and execute plans to get wounded warriors home. Gregg also deals with the logistical aspects of families getting to their loved ones.

Gregg also served in Korea.

Gregg has been singing her entire life. Click on the links below to see her audition.
