HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Flooding problems throughout the city of Huntington were prominently discussed Monday night by City Council, including creating the position of storm water director.

Mayor Steve Williams said it goes back to a recommendation from the Environmental Protection Agency, saying the city needs to separate its sewer water division from its storm water division.

Williams says this position will allow the city to look more closely at finding solutions to flooding problems that have plagued the city for decades.

During the next few months, Williams said he'll work with City Council to determine the qualifications for the new director's position -- then they will select a candidate.
