Two Houses Hit in Huntington Shooting

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Bullets went through two houses a little before noon Friday in a shooting one neighbor says appears to be over road rage.

Ashley Vickers says if her walk through her kitchen had been timed just slightly differently, she could've been killed.

The bullet came through her kitchen window at an even level with her head.

"I was walking to the bathroom, which is not five seconds away, and the bullet came through the house," Vickers said.

Darrin Chinn says he and a friend were blocking the alley on the 2200 block of Artisan Avenue as they were using a truck and a trailer to haul another car into his driveway, when another truck pulled up trying to get through.

"They just asked us if we'd move our (expletive deleted) car,” Chinn said. “I said could you please wait, we're in the middle of something? They just started cussing at us."

Chinn says the truck went to the end of the alley. Then he heard gunshots.

"We ran to my back door to make sure we didn't get hit," Chinn said.

The bullets hit a pole and a truck, and one went through Vickers' home and into the home next door.

"It makes me nervous really quick because my kids play out here every day," Chinn said.

"I definitely want to know they will not be back in my neighborhood to shoot more bullets at my house, especially if my kids are home," Vickers said.

Police say the suspect vehicle is a bluish-gray 90s model F-150 with damage to the front.

Chinn says he did not get a good look at the people in the truck.
