Vinson Little League Building Ransacked

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police are searching for the person(s) that broke into the Vinson Little League concession stand and stole nearly $200 worth of food.

According to the police report, sometime after 2 a.m. Sunday someone climbed the fence behind home plate and got into the building through the the second floor press box window.

Once inside, police said they tried to steal money from the safe -- but the cash was already gone.

Instead they ransacked the building, stealing nearly $200 worth of food. The thief got away with two boxes of cheese stix, two bags of french fries, a box of ice cream, two boxes of pop rocks, two boxes of chicken tenders, a box of push pops a box of pickles and a fire safe lock box.

The damage to the building is going to cost about $700 to repair, according to the report.

On Saturday, , 88 volunteers from CSX spent nearly 4 hours at the league making a variety of repairs to the complex.

The work included rebuilding bleachers, fixing fields, repairs to the press boxes and other improvement projects.
