HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Huntington woman recently was arrested on child neglect charges after she was found unresponsive in the floor of a grocery store with a needle in her arm, according to information in a criminal complaint from Cabell County Magistrate Court.
Kayla Marie Karr, 25, was charged Thursday with child neglect resulting in injury and child neglect creating the risk of injury.
Karr was found unresponsive in a bathroom stall of a Huntington grocery store, according to the criminal complaint. She was unable to speak and allegedly holding the top of a needle in her hand.
Her 4 1/2-month-old daughter was found unattended in a baby carrier in the floor of the bathroom. The bathroom door was unsecured at the time, and police are not certain how many people had access to the child.
No other adult to care for the child was found nearby at the time.
Karr was taken to the Western Regional Jail.
