GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSAZ) -- A woman from Huntington was found dead in a motel room in South Carolina.

Authorities have arrested Richard Davis, 57, from Simpsonville, S.C., on a murder charge.

Greenville County deputies said they were called to the Intown Suites on Mauldin Road around 8:50 a.m. Sunday.

According to deputies, a woman was found dead inside one of the rooms.

Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans identified the woman as 50-year-old Donna Sue Roberts of 9th Avenue in Huntington, W.Va.

Deputies say the suspect called 911 and told them he found her dead.

Their investigation led them to believe he did more than just find her. Deputies say the two got into a fight that ended with the suspect beating Roberts to death.

Evans said the woman died from multiple injuries consistent with being beaten.
