ATV Wreck Kills West Liberty Man, Injures His Son

WEST LIBERTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- An ATV wreck claimed the life of a West Liberty man and injured his young son.

According to the Kentucky State Police, 30-year-old James D. Lewis and his five-year-old son were riding on an ATV on Lewis' property on Saturday night. Investigators say it appears Lewis lost control while driving up an embankment, throwing him and his son from the vehicle. Neither one was wearing a helmet.

The ATV overturned and landed on Lewis, killing him. His son was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Kentucky State Police believe that alcohol played a role in the incident, which remains under investigation.
