UPDATE: One Dead in Floyd County Shooting; Name Released

UPDATE 10/5/12 @ 1:15 p.m.
FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A man has been killed in a shooting in Martin in Floyd County.

It happened just before 11 Thursday night, on Henry’s Branch Road.

Kentucky State Police say William Martin Sparks was killed.

Troopers say Sparks, who was in his 30’s, was involved in an altercation with William David Gregory before the shooting. Sparks was taken to hospital before troopers arrived on the scene. He died at the hospital.

Gregory was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Martin for the injuries he received in the altercation. No word on his condition.

Troopers have not released any details on the altercation.

Also no word if any charges will be filed in the case.

FLOYD COUNTY, Kentucky (WSAZ) – One person is dead after a shooting in Floyd County, Kentucky.

911 Dispatchers say it happened just before 11 Thursday night, on Henry’s Branch Road outside of Martin.

Dispatchers say it was a close range shot by a shotgun.

Kentucky State Police are investigating.

Troopers are not releasing any other details at this time.

There is no word on whether anyone is in custody.
