UPDATE 2/22/13
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Gov. Steve Beshear has undergone a third round of minor eye surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.
Spokeswoman Kerri Richardson said the governor had the latest surgery Thursday night and that he plans to return to work on Monday.
Beshear has had two follow-up procedures since he underwent surgery last November to repair a detached retina.
Spokeswoman Kerri Richardson says the problem developed over the weekend and that Beshear woke and had trouble seeing out of one eye. After consulting with his doctor, Richardson says Beshear had the surgery Monday evening in Lexington.
She says the procedure didn't require general anesthesia.
A statement from Beshear's office said the surgery was successful and Beshear "is recovering well."
The statement said Beshear will not be traveling for a few days in order to continue his recuperation.
