GRAYSON, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The man that prosecutors say was the head of a million dollar heavy equipment theft ring has been formally sentenced to time behind bars.
John Buckner, 64, of Grayson, was taken into custody to begin serving his 10-year sentence following a hearing Monday in Carter County Circuit Court.
Besides the jail time, Buckner was ordered to pay $46,242 in restitution, and a $1500 fine.
Buckner had been free on home incarceration until Monday’s sentencing hearing.
He is expected to be eligible for parole in two years. He is receiving credit for time served.
In October, Buckner pleaded guilty to 24 counts of receiving stolen property.
Buckner was arrested in March 20010 after the Carter County Sheriff and the FBI said they busted a multi-state theft ring.
Investigators said the stolen equipment was found in three locations off of Route 1496 in the Willard area of Carter County
The items included bulldozers, graders, dump trucks, trailers and more.
Much of the stolen equipment has since been recovered.
