SOUTH PORTSMOUTH, Ky. (WSAZ) - A Greenup County man burned when his house caught fire is in serious condition at a Huntington hospital.
Fire investigators say 42-year-old Michael Stockham suffered second and third degree burns on half of his body while trying to escape a fire at his home on Spruce Alley in South Portsmouth, Ky. Tuesday afternoon.

South Shore's Assistant Fire Chief says Stockham lived at the home with another relative, but he was the only one inside when the fire started.

At this time, a cause has not been determined. The home was destroyed.

Kentucky's State Fire Marshal's Office is handling the fire investigation.
