BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A scheme involving the payment of power bills has been reported in Boone County.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office says there have been reports of people claiming to work with AEP, calling businesses and saying they have not received the most recent payment.

The schemers say they need the payment today or the power will be shut off.

Deputies say two businesses have fallen victim to the scheme. One paid $1500, the other paid $500.

If you have questions about your bill, call AEP.
