UPDATE 7/1/13 @ 6:25 p.m.
RUSSELL, Ky. (WSAZ) – When the crime scene tape came down, a closer look at the creek behind Hobby Lobby in Russell showed it was only inches deep. This is where detectives say Mary Dixon may have spent the last few moments of her life.

"She was last seen on June 26, 2013,” Russell Police Detective Adam Davis said. “This was the 29th of June when her body was found."

Dixon was last seen Wednesday night at the Subway in Russell where she worked, just a few store-fronts away from Hobby Lobby. Detectives said a man and woman found her body Saturday afternoon in the creek behind Hobby Lobby.

Now, Arthur Quigley, 30, is charged with murdering Dixon.

“My investigation to that point had led me to believe and have probable cause to obtain a murder warrant for him,” Davis said. “That was based upon multiple interviews that I had done up to that point, as well as other evidence that we had collected.”

Quigley, of Kitts Hill, Ohio, was arrested by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office in Eldorado, Ohio.

"He was taken to their jail, where myself and [Russell Police] Chief [Tim] Wilson conducted an interrogation at that point,” Davis said, “during which he made multiple incriminating statements."

Davis confirmed that Quigley and Dixon were acquaintances and coworkers at Subway. Dixon’s family said Saturday the two were involved in a love triangle – fighting over a third woman, who they were both dating. Detectives said Monday they weren’t releasing more information about that relationship, if that was the case.

Quigley is in jail in Preble County, Ohio, waiting for a hearing before he is extradited to Kentucky.

“The plan is to get him back here to Greenup County and face justice,” Davis said.

The medical examiner is not yet releasing exactly how Dixon was killed.

“[I] told my boyfriend something’s wrong with Mary,” she said.

Dixon said she knew her twin was in danger because she wouldn’t have taken off and left her 21-year-old son who has special needs.

“She's always there for him,” Dixon said of her sister. “No matter what kind of person she may or may not be, she's still an incredibly good mother, and she doesn't just leave Brandon like that with nothing. She takes care of her son.”

Shortly before the body was discovered Saturday afternoon, the family said they were just hoping for any news or information that would lead detectives to Mary, whether good or bad.
