ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Pam Womack loves spreading holiday cheer regardless of which holiday it is.
For Independence Day, she gets out her 6-foot tall Santa Claus and converts him into Uncle Sam.
Last week, a couple pranksters made their way onto Uncle Sam's naughty list.
Two young men came onto the Womack’s porch on Lexington Avenue and stole him. The Womacks’ security camera captured the theft about 2 a.m. June 19.
Pam says they did this despite a prominent sign on the porch warning of the camera.
"They looked at the camera,” Pam said. “They were brazen, laughing. It’s frustrating, the idea that they had the nerve to do it."
Uncle Sam's feet were found about a block away. One of Pam's friends later found Uncle Sam's upper body a few miles away on a public bench on Blackburn Avenue.
His legs are still missing in action.
Pam's discouraged someone would try to steal their pride and patriotism just days before the 4th of July. Now she says Uncle Sam wants you to help catch the un-American thieves.
"They may think it's funny. It's not funny," she said. "He was perfect. He was a great Uncle Sam, an Uncle Sam that had been loved for many years. It's a shame someone has to destroy or take Uncle Sam."
