UPDATE 7/10/13 @ 10:35 p.m.
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- While much of the Tri-State was spared severe weather Wednesday evening, parts of the Kanawha Valley didn't fare as well.
Metro 911 dispatchers and law enforcement officers said the Sissonville area was especially hard hit, mainly by flooded roadways. Some water rescues were reported.
No injuries have been reported.
Parts of Scioto County, Ohio, especially the town of Sciotoville, faced similar high water issues.
Wendell Skinner raked debris away from a storm drain to try to get the high water covering Bosner Road in Sciotoville to recede. Skinner says Bosner gets covered every time they have heavy rain.
"I just hope it doesn't rain anymore," Skinner said.
Wendell's wife Marsha runs a beauty shop. They had to work quickly to keep backed up sewage from spreading over her floor.
"We put two hoses in because it was coming up so fast, and it still wouldn't take it out, so we had to dip it out in the bucket and put it in the street," Marsha said.
The weather also interfered with the Lawrence County Fair in Proctorville, Ohio.
They had to shut down the rides about 6 p.m. Wednesday because of lightning.

Torrential rains have fallen on already saturated ground, which is a recipe for street flooding at first, then small stream flooding where storms linger.
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for localized high water tonight.
Scioto County, Ohio, may see the worst of the storms. A 2-inch gully washer swamped the streets of Sciotodale in less than an hour.
The storms fed on the jungle-like humidity of the day and featured some amazing cloud formations.
