The problem caused low water pressure for the City of Ashland, so a boil water advisory was issued. Also, several lanes of U.S. 23 were shut down causing traffic issues for several days.

Boyd County 911 tells WSAZ.com that all lanes have reopened.

The boil water advisory was also lifted Thursday.

It happened in the 4300-block of Winchester Avenue. This is the same spot where a break happened in August, causing a detour in traffic for several days.

The latest issue involved a coupling that failed. Repairs to that coupling also caused much of the city to lose water pressure for a time Wednesday evening.

Repairs to the line were expected to be completed Wednesday night. Crews hope to have the road fully open by rush hour Thursday night.

The issue also forced the city water department to issue a boil water advisory for the City of Ashland and the Westwood area through Thursday evening.
