JOHNSON COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Two men continue to recover following a boating accident in Johnson County, Ky.
The accident happened Monday night on Paintsville Lake.
Officials with the Johnson County Rescue Squad said they got the call about 7 p.m. and by the time they got on scene, the men had been in the water at least 30 minutes.
"They yelled for help and it was a few minutes before a nearby boat came close enough to hear them and render some aid," said Jeff Helton with the Johnson County Rescue Squad Chief.
Investigators say they may have hit a log underneath the water. They say the men were injured by the props on the boat. One had an arm injury, the other had a leg injury. Both were conscious and alert when the boat came to help them.
Officials say the men are very lucky their injuries were not worse. They always recommend wearing life jackets and using kill switches.
Both men were flown to a Huntington hospital. One was released Tuesday afternoon.
This was the first rescue for the Johnson County Rescue Squad's Tactical Rescue Team.
The names of the men are not being released at this time.
It happened Monday night about 7:00. According to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, the accident knocked the men overboard in the McKenzie Branch area.
Both men were airlifted to a hospital in Huntington. Their names and conditions have not been released.
