PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A U.S. Postal letter carrier faces federal charges of stealing and destroying mail in Pike County, according to an indictment filed in U.S. District Court.
Russell Allen Halsey, a highway letter carrier, is accused of stealing gift cards and boxes of checks addressed to other people.
The indictment, which was filed Nov. 15, alleges that the incidents occurred from Oct. 16, 2010, through Feb. 14, 2012.
Halsey “unlawfully secreted, destroyed, detained, delayed or opened mail matter which had been entrusted to him and which was intended to be delivered through the United States Postal Service,” according to the indictment.
