Three-State Police Chase Ends with Driver Facing Charges

Updated: Mon 3:03 PM, Feb 11, 2013

CHESAPEAKE, Ohio (WSAZ) -- One man faces charges after leading police on a high-speed three-state car chase.

The pursuit started late Friday morning on I-64 when Ceredo Police Officer S.D. Brody says he tried to stop Teddy Arrington, Jr., 35, of Chesapeake, Ohio, for a minor traffic violation. That's when police also found out that Arrington had a bad license tag on his Mazda. The plates actually came back to a Volkswagon.

Officer Brody tells WSAZ.com that Arrington took off on I-64 heading west towards Kentucky. He then exited the interstate at Catlettsburg, Ky. but immediately got back on heading back into W.Va.

Arrington then exited the interstate again, this time at the 5th Street exit in Huntignton. While turning around Arrington blew out his right rear tire -- but never stopped. He then got back on the interstate heading west before getting off at the West 17th Street exit.

The chase then moved into Ohio. Brody says Arrington headed down U.S. 52 and turned onto Buffalo Creek Road. About a mile out that road, he ditched the car and took off on foot.

Officers captured Arrington after a short foot pursuit.

Arrington was taken into custody by the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department.

In W.Va.,he faces charges of reckless driving and felony fleeing. He also has outstanding warrants out of Lawrence County, Ohio for breaking and entering.

Police say that Arrington was driving nearly 100 mph at times during the pursuit.

Nothing out of the ordinary was found in his car car.
