UPDATE: Portsmouth Man Convicted of Bank Robbery

SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – A Portsmouth man has been convicted of bank robbery and is now headed to prison for 10 years.

Tuesday morning, a jury found Christopher D’Souza, 39, guilty of aggravated robbery and robbery.

Prosecutors say D’Souza robbed the WesBanco bank branch along Gallia Street in Portsmouth on July 6. He was arrested several blocks from the bank minutes after the robbery. Police say they recovered some of the stolen cash.

D’Souza’s trial began Monday morning in Scioto County Common Pleas Court.

Judge Howard Harcha says he sentenced D’Souza to the ten years because of his criminal record, along with the nature of the bank robbery.

During the trial, five witnesses identified D'Souza as the bank robber, according to Prosecutor Mark Kuhn.

Bank employees told police D'Ssouza appeared to have a gun inside his hoodie, but he never used it during the robbery.

SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – Testimony is underway in the trial of a Portsmouth man charge with bank robbery.

Prosecutors say Christopher D'Ssouza, 39, robbed the Wesbanco bank branch along Gallia Street in Portsmouth on July 6.

Bank employees told police D'Ssouza appeared to have a gun inside his hoodie, but he never used it during the robbery.

Dsouza was arrested several blocks from the bank shortly after the robbery. Police say they recovered some of the stolen crash.

He is charged with robbery and aggravated robbery.

His trial is taking place in Scioto County Common Pleas Court. It is expected to last through Tuesday.

Prosecutors say Christopher D'Ssouza, 39, robbed the Wesbanco bank branch along Gallia Street in Portsmouth on July 6.

Bank employees told police Dsouza appeared to have a gun inside his hoodie, but he never used it during the robbery.

D'Souza was arrested several blocks from the bank shortly after the robbery. Police say they recovered some of the stolen crash.

He is charged with robbery and aggravated robbery.

His trial is taking place in Scioto County Common Pleas Court.

Jury selection is expected to take most of Monday morning.

A Scioto County Grand Jury charged Christopher D'Souza, 39, with on robbery and aggravated robbery charges.

The robbery happened at the Wesbanco branch along Gallia Street in Portsmouth.

Bank employees told police the suspect appeared to have a gun inside his hoodie, but he never used it during the robbery.

D'Souza was arrested several blocks from the bank shortly after the robbery. Police say they recovered some of the stolen crash.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A man accused of robbing a bank was caught and arrested just blocks from where it happened.

Portsmouth Police arrested Christopher D'Ssouza, 39, of Portsmouth Saturday morning.

Police say D'Souza walked into the Wesbanco branch on Gallia Street just after 9:30 a.m. and robbed it before running away on foot.

Bank employees told police that D'Souza appeared to have a gun inside his hoodie, but never used it during the robbery.

D'Souza was located a few blocks away from the bank where he was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. He is set to be arraigned Monday morning.

Police were able to recover some of the stolen cash.
