IRONTON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A woman from Ashland charged with stealing more than $45,000 from her workplace has agreed to a plea deal that will keep her out of jail, but requires her to repay the money.

Selma Dean, 51, pleaded guilty to engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity during a hearing Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Dean was indicted last month and arraigned last week. Prosecutors say she took the money from McSweeney’s between June 2007 and June 2012. She worked at the South Point business in the accounting department.

As part of the plea, a theft charged was dropped.

The judge then sentenced her to intense probation. The deal also requires her to pay back the money by Jan. 31, according to the prosecutors office. If Dean doesn't pay back the money, she could be sent to jail for six years.
