UPDATE: No Students Hurt in Meigs Local School Bus Accident

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – None of the 21 children on a Meigs Local School Bus were hurt when an SUV crashed into the bus Tuesday morning.

The accident happened on SR 7 at the intersection of SR 143 in Meigs County, Ohio, about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Lt. Max Norris with the Ohio Highway Patrol tells WSAZ.com that the bus was heading south on Route 7 when the 16-year-old driver of SUV pulled out onto the highway from SR 143 and into the path of the bus.

The bus and SUV ended going off the road on impact. Both drivers were hurt and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Lt. Norris says the children on the bus were checked out by EMS personnel, before being reunited with their parents. Again, none of the children were hurt.

The students, kindergarten through 5th grade were headed to Rutland Elementary.

Norris says the driver of the SUV will likely be cited for failure to yield.

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Emergency crews are on the scene of a minor accident involving a Meigs Local School bus.

The accident happened on SR 143 near the intersection with SR 7 in Meigs County, Ohio about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say it appears none of the students on the bus were injured, but the driver may have minor injuries.

The Meigs County Sheriff and the Ohio Highway Patrol are on the scene.
