CHESAPEAKE, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A screaming good time in Lawrence County, Ohio where the kids at Chesapeake High School held their 9th annual Spooktacular.
While the haunted hallway did provide plenty of chills, all the frightening Halloween scenes will actually help the Chesapeake Community Center fill food baskets during the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
Parents and students were asked to bring canned goods to get in the door.
"We have our National Honor Society and Beta Club group here," said Kerry Carrico, a teacher at Chesapeake and organizer of the event. "So they're able to volunteer and see the kids happy faces for the good project they're doing."
This is just the kickoff for the food drive. The kids will collect food for the community center from now through the rest of October and November.
