CHESAPEAKE, Ohio (WSAZ) -- To jump or not to jump -- that was the question for one woman Wednesday as the van she was driving balanced on a guardrail next to a steep drop off.
The GMC van was literally hanging on a bolt that kept it from going over the hill and possibly into the house nearby.
Huntington resident Debbie Smith said she had just picked up some tomatoes. As she was driving, she decided to put them in the seat behind her.
That's when she lost control, drove up onto the guardrail and nearly went over the embankment.
Smith said once she realized her van was balancing on the guardrail, she didn't know if she should jump or stay.
"I'm hollering, 'What do I do? What do I do? Do I get out or should I stay in?' And everybody was like get out, get out because it was so close to being rolled over".
Smith says she never uses a cell phone while driving but now knows not to mess with tomatoes while driving either.
