UPDATE: Trailer Fire in Gallia County Most Likely Caused by Electrical Malfunction

UPDATE 8/19/13 @ 1:10 p.m.
GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – The cause of an early morning fire that destroyed a mobile home is most likely electrical, according to Chief Keith Elliott of the Gallipolis Volunteer Fire Department.

The fire began just after 12:30 a.m. Monday in a rental trailer in the 300 block of East Bethel Church Road in Gallipolis. Chief Elliott said a neighbor discovered the fire and went over to knock on the door and wake up the woman who lived there, Helen Mullins.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the back end of the older mobile home, where it started. Chief Elliott said Mullins reported having electrical problems in the trailer and with the breakers.

E.M.S. was called to the scene for smoke inhalation injuries, but Mullins was not taken to a hospital. Firefighters do not believe there was anyone else in the home at the time.

The scene was cleared just before 3 a.m.

Chief Elliott said the Red Cross was contacted to help Mullins, since the home was a total loss.
