ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) – Jan. 1 will now always be more than New Year’s for one family.
Dustin Green and Dashianna Spencer of Ironton weren’t expecting their new son to arrive so soon.
"He brought my new year in with a big bang," Spencer said.
The boy was born three weeks ahead of schedule, but Isaiah Hakeem Green, 7 pounds, 5.8 ounces, came into the world at 3:29 a.m. Wednesday at King's Daughters Medical Center, perfectly healthy.
He was the first baby born in the Tri-State this year.
"The best blessing is just to know that he's healthy, and he's husky to be three weeks early,” Spencer said. “It's a big relief."
Isaiah is the middle name of the father.
The baby measures 20 1/2 inches in length.
He has a 4-year-old brother.
Dashianna's New Year’s resolution is one she hopes to uphold every year.
“This starts my life out positive and looking forward for what is to come," Spencer said. "I feel like my heart is walking outside my body, because all you want to do the whole time is make sure you protect them and care for them and lead by example. That way you give them the fullest life possible."
