LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- One of the men who used to announce the news from the WSAZ anchor chair, announced his retirement Friday.

Former WSAZ anchor Bob Smith was surrounded by family, friends and co-workers -- past and present -- at his retirement party from the Lawrence County, Ohio Chamber of Commerce.

Smith served on the chamber for four years after retiring from television, Ohio University and the Army Reserve.

Ever humble -- Smith says he should be the one throwing the party for everyone else.

"It's who surround yourself with, that's the important thing. I've always had the fortune of surrounding myself with good people, with talented people, with professional people, people with good attitudes," said Smith.

Bob's sister gave the best salute, saying she never heard anyone utter a bad word about Smith.
