GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A Gallia County man, being placed under arrest, had to be Tased after punching a sheriff’s deputy in the face, according to Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning.
Sheriff Browning say the incident began after deputies went to residence in Springfield Township to investigate several anonymous tips and complaints about an indoor marijuana grow.
Browning says the property owner, James M. Williams, 49, acknowledged there was a small indoor growing operation at the residence.
The Sheriff says Williams became upset and aggressive when deputies asked permission to search an outbuilding at the residence.
When told he was under arrest, Browning says Williams continued to struggle and punched the deputy. He was then TASED and taken into custody.
The Sheriff says during a search of the property, 20 marijuana plants, booby trapped with trip wires, were found at the back of the property. Deputies also recovered 14 marijuana plants from a back room, 30 marijuana starter plants, weapons and two ATV’s.
Williams was charged with assault and possessing weapons under a disability.
Additional charges are pending.
