HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – One of the two men charged with the beating of an off-duty Huntington firefighter has pleaded to reduced charges.

Investigators say Justin Stahl, 20, of Huntington, and Rhamel Hatcher, 27, of Ironton, Ohio, beat and stabbed Seth Summers, 23, while he was trying to help a man who had been knocked out in a fight.

It happened June 20 outside a nightclub along 4th Avenue and 12th Street.

Both men were charged with malicious wounding in the case.

According to the criminal complaint, police said that both men kicked Summers in the head after he was knocked to the ground. Police say Summers appeared to have impressions from shoe strikes on his face.

Wednesday morning during a hearing in Cabell County Circuit Court, Stahl entered a Kennedy plea to conspiracy and a guilty plea to unlawful touching.

He will be sentenced Feb. 13.

Summers will have the opportunity to address the court at Stahl’s sentencing.
