High Water Closes Roads, Causes Early School Dismissals

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Hours of steady downpours over the past couple days and melting snow led to closed roads and early school dismissals Monday.

Scott Spears was among several folks on Hog Run Road near Ironton who couldn't make it home after work because of the high water.

"If you don't have four-wheel-drive you're pretty much stuck,” Spears said.

Jeff McCallister had to leave his car and walk through the mud to get back to his house.

"It's a major headache,” McCallister said. “It gets very aggravating."

McCallister says hopefully the problem there may be fixed soon. He says there’s a state and private project to raise part of the road up a few feet to prevent it from flooding as often as it does.
