The latest statewide unemployment numbers in Ohio sit at 6.5 percent for the month of September. That number jumps significantly in Gallia County in southeastern Ohio where the unemployment rate was 8.2 percent.

This job fair was hosted by Gallia County commissioners. It was planned in connection with the Gallia County Economic Development Office and the Gallia County Work Opportunity Center.

"We're serving the unemployed and the underemployed," Economic Development Director Melissa Clark said. "We have a work force here ready and willing to work."

More than 40 companies registered for Wednesday's job fair, and nearly 375 people walked through the door.
