UPDATE 3/28/13 @ 1:15 p.m.
POMEROY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The Meigs County Sheriff says an inmate at the county jail who was found dead earlier this month, died of an apparent suicide.
The incident happened in the early morning hours of March 20.
Sheriff Keith Wood says the inmate was a 46-year-old man from Reedsville who was in jail on charges of felonious assault and kidnapping. Wood says he was scheduled to be arraigned on the charges the day he died.
Sheriff Keith Wood did not release the name of the inmate, or how the person died.
The Sheriff says the other prisoners in the jail were temporarily transported to other holding facilities until they can be returned to the jail.
Woods says the County Coroner and the Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation are investigating the death.
Because this is an ongoing incident, no other information will be released until the investigation is completed.
