Man Arrested Following Three-Hour Search in South Point

SOUTH POINT, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Following a three-hour search, a man from South Point has been arrested after police say they found him in a building in the Point Industrial Park in South Point.

South Point Police say about 1:30 Wednesday morning, two officers found a person with a flashlight in an abandoned power building.

As the officers approached the building, they say the man took off.

South Point Officers, with help from Lawrence County, Ohio Sheriff’s Deputies and Chesapeake Police Officers, finally located the suspect after searching a wooded area for three hours.

South Point Police arrested and charged Gordon Meredith, of South Point, with two counts of criminal trespassing and theft.

Police say Meredith has a criminal history including aggravated robbery and receiving stolen property.
