UPDATE: 8/15/13 @ 6:30 p.m.
VINTON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A true story of survival in Gallia County, Ohio, after a farmer was pinned by his tractor and a piece of machinery for 13 hours.

It was the longest night of Darrell Marcum's life. And a night that haunts his brother Hollie.

“It was tough to know that he'd laid there all night long,” Hollie Marcum said.

Sometime after 6:30 Tuesday evening, Darrell was on his tractor just off Adney road near Vinton, Ohio. He was pulling a bush hog, when something went wrong. He got off the tractor, between it and the machinery. Then it started to roll.

“How he got this tractor, it was pointing straight down in there just like that up against a tree,” Hollie said.

The bush hog knocked Darrell down. Then, the tractor's tire rolled over his head, pinning him to the ground for 13 hours.

“It hurts to think about how miserable he was,” Hollie said.

The temperature got down to nearly 50 degrees; something doctors say actually helped him survive. But the hours and hours pinned by the machinery cut off circulation to his legs.

“Had he have been found, they'd have probably just doctored him up and sent him home,” Hollies said.

The blood is now flowing again to Darrell's legs, but there are issues with blood clots. Incredibly-- he doesn't have any brain injuries-- despite being found with his head under the tire.
