UPDATE: Bank Robber Sentenced to Prison

ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A bank robber has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to the crime.

The Athens County Prosecutor's Office says Emmanuel Arocho, 31, was sentenced Monday on one count of robbery.

The prosecutor's office says on July 8, Arocho walked into Peoples Bank in Athens, handed a teller a note instructing her to give him money from the drawer and not activate the alarm.

He got away with $3150 in cash.

Arocho was not armed.

The prosecutor's office says Arocho will be eligible for parole in six months, but the state will oppose any parole until he spends a year behind bars.

Arocho must also pay restitution within four years after his release and will serve three years of post release control.

ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A man was indicted Monday in connection with a bank robbery that happened July 8 in Athens, according to information from the Athens County Prosecutor's Office.

Emmanuel Phillip Arocho, 31, address unavailable, was indicted on one count of robbery.

The robbery happened July 8 at the People Bank along East State Street in Athens.

Arocho is accused of handing a teller a napkin with a written demand for money and instructions not to activate the alarm.

Investigators say the man responsible fled the bank with $3,150 cash.

Arocho is set to be arraigned July 24. He is currently at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
