GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Police in Gallipolis have busted what they say is the first active meth lab found in the city.
Investigators say the lab was found at house on Neal Avenue after officers went to the house to serve an arrest warrant. This was just before 11 p.m.
Police arrested Trentin Caldwell, 21, of Gallipolis, and Ravyn Bar, 26, of Gallipolis.
Thursday morning the pair was charged with possession of materials to make meth. They were then arraigned in Gallipolis Municipal Court.
Caldwell was also arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
"With the department's aggressive program of drug enforcement, we have been lucky that we have not had to deal with a situation like this," said Police Chief Clinton Patterson.
A team of deputies from the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office, Middleport Police officers and firefighters from the Gallipolis Volunteer Fire Department were called to the residence to neutralize the lab.
