COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Several local counties were awarded grants to improve the quality of life in their communities.
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Neighborhood Revitalization Grants will benefit seven counties and total $2,046,600.
The funded projects are expected to improve more than 2,800 feet of storm drainage, 12,200 feet of streets and 24,200 feet of curbs and sidewalks. The projects also will leverage more than $3.5 million of additional private and public funds.
“These projects are investments that will improve streets and water systems, as well as make facilities compliant with ADA regulations,” said Christiane Schmenk, Director of the Ohio Department of Development. “Improving the infrastructure in Ohio’s communities is instrumental in creating an atmosphere for economic growth and bettering the lives of the residents.”
Athens County
The Village of Trimble will receive $300,000 for improvement projects that include the resurfacing and repairing of 1,435 feet of street surfaces, construction of 2,392 feet of sidewalks and the installation of one restroom facility and one piece of playground equipment at Village Park. The projects will leverage $158,500 in additional funds.
Meigs County
The Village of Rutland will receive $300,000 for improvement projects that include the replacement of 24 sewage grinder pumps, rehabilitation of two fire protection buildings, resurfacing of 2,605 feet of roadway and the demolition of six blighted structures. The projects will leverage $183,900 in additional funds.
Five other Ohio communities also received funding.
