GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The Gallia County Prosecutor is not filing charges in connection with several dogs that were put down at the Gallia County Animal Shelter last month.
In a letter to the Gallia County Sheriff's Office, Prosecutor Jeff Adkins said his office did not find any chargeable offenses.
The case was investigated after a rescue group reported that several dogs were put down inhumanely at the shelter last month.
The case has now been turned over the Gallipolis City Solicitor to determine if misdemeanor charges should be filed.
Since the alleged incident, the assistant dog warden has been reassigned to the county's maintenance department until the investigation wraps up.
