Scioto Co. Sheriff's Office Warns Residents about Phone Scam

SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Residents in Scioto County are being warned about a telephone scam.

It involves an automated recording advising people that their debit cards have been disabled, the Scioto County Sheriff's Office said.

The recording says the call is from Wesbanco, stating the person's debit card has been temporarily disabled. To reactivate the card, the person is asked to enter his or her card information.

According to the Sheriff's Office, this is a scam and you should not enter any information.
