PORTSMOUTH Ohio (WSAZ) – The cases against two men charged in connection with a bank robbery in Wheelersburg, Ohio have been bound over to a grand jury.
The US Bank branch on Center Street was robbed back in March.
Todd M. Williams, 33, of Portsmouth and Paul E. Charles, 40, of Portsmouth are charged in the robbery. Investigators say Williams was the one who robbed the bank, while Charles drove the getaway car.
The men are each charged with robbery, two counts of kidnapping and two counts of abduction. A grand jury indicted them on the charges last month.
Prosecutors in Scioto County say both men pleaded not guilty to the charges during their arraignment Wednesday morning in Scioto County Common Pleas Court.
Their bonds remain at $250,000
The US Bank branch on Center Street was robbed around 3:45 Thursday afternoon.
Sheriff Marty Donini says Todd M. Williams, 33, of Portsmouth, was arrested Sunday and charged with 2nd degree robbery.
Paul E. Charles, 40, of Portsmouth was arrested Friday and charged with complicity to robbery, and a probation violation.
Investigators say Williams was the one who robbed the bank, while Charles drove the getaway car.
Donini says Williams was arrested at his home on Birch Hollow in Portsmouth after investigators spotted the alleged getaway car at the house. Detectives and deputies surrounded the house and took Williams into custody without incident.
Investigators say Williams went into the bank with a white ski mask covering his face and carrying a black bag to put the money in. They say he was not armed.
The Sheriff says they received several leads that led them to the men.
Williams is being held on a $75,000 bond.
No bond was set for Charles.
Both men are expected to be in court this week.

The robbery happened at the US Bank branch on Center Street about 3:45 p.m.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty Donini says the man entered the bank with a white ski mask covering his face and carrying a black bag.
After getting an undetermined amount of money, he ran away from the bank toward Ohio River Road.
Detectives say he was wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans with holes in them and black shoes.
The suspect did not show or indicate he had a weapon.
